I kind of hate how being an indie author forces me to build a social media following. In a perfect world, that wouldn't be the case. But, to find readers and make connections I have to meet them where they are. And they're on Facebook. And Twitter. And Instagram. And TikTok, but I'm not touching that with a ten-foot pole.
I have my hands full already managing 2 different professional social media accounts, in addition to my person Facebook profile, but this week I took the plunge and added Instagram to the list. Why not? It's basically Twitter, but with pictures, right?
Kind of. Enough things are similar that the learning curve isn't too bad, but it is yet another platform that I now have to monitor and post stuff on and try to collect people who want to hear what I have to say. Maybe it'll turn out to be a good thing.
